Eric Burton Osberg Scholarship Application

The Eric Burton Osberg Scholarship Fund was formed to help students with epilepsy reach their full academic potential. Those who receive this scholarship are recognized for their determination to achieve in school while living with epilepsy. Recipients of the scholarship exemplify the spirit of hope and perseverance to overcome the challenges created by epilepsy communicated by the Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA’s mission.

Students attending a computer, trade, technical, or culinary school are preferred during the review process, but students who are attending traditional schools are also encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to applicants within the EFEPA service area. EFEPA’s service area includes the counties of: Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.

Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2017.

    Write a brief essay (500 word minimum) about something you have dealt with as a person with epilepsy. You may discuss one of these topics or use one of your own:  How you have overcome the challenges of epilepsy (personally, socially, in school, elsewhere)?  What does having epilepsy means to you?  Someone who has been helpful to you in your success (include how)  An achievement of which you are proud. If writing isn’t your strong suit, you may schedule an in person interview with the committee, produce a short video, or find another way to show the committee who you are.
