Grant Objectives: The Martinez Arts Association supports the arts in local schools and encourages students to continue their interest in the arts. One reflection of this support is realized by grants to public school teachers, primarily serving the MUSD school district, to fund needed materials and resources for their classes. Grants are intended to supplement and enhance the arts curriculum and provide greater learning opportunities for students. Collaboration among teachers is encouraged when appropriate.
Grant Amount: The current grant amount per teacher is up to $400. Teachers serving more than one classroom are welcome to request a grant amount in line with the number of students that will benefit from the funds. The MAA will work to grant to as many applicants as possible, depending on the number of applications and the quality of proposed projects.
Grant Eligibility: Teachers, serving grades TK-12, in the MUSD are eligible and encouraged to apply. Applying teachers must be actively serving in one of the following MUSD schools: John Muir, John Swett, Las Juntas, Morello Park, Martinez Junior High, Alhambra, Briones and/or Vicente. Applications from teachers serving students at Saint Catherine of Siena school will also be considered.
Eligible Projects: Any art project, or artistic activity, that would otherwise not be accessible to students without the provided grant funds.
Exhibition Requirement: All teachers receiving grants must be wiling to share evidence of how the funds were used. This may include photos of student work in progress and/or samples of student work. A student showcase will happen in the Spring of 2027. Teachers, who received grant money, will be contacted to request student work to contribute to the show. Please note that each student will be limited to exhibiting one piece of art that is no larger than 8.5" x 11". Printed photos of larger pieces may be displayed.
Grant Application Deadline: Applications will only be accepted via this Google form. Applications for the 2026 Teacher Grant Program will close on Friday, October 9, 2026.
