The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (GFMER) in collaboration with the World Health Organization announces the online training course on "Family Planning”: An Online Evidence-based Course.
Learning objectives:
On completion of this course students will be able:
1.To describe the Frameworks for family planning programmes
2.To define basic indicators related to population and family planning and their use in decision making
3.To explain the basic steps of counselling for family planning and informed decision-making process on contraceptive choice
4.To characterize the following contraceptive methods based on mechanism of action, indicators of effectiveness, side effects, non-contraceptive benefits, eligibility criteria and interventions for certain problems during use.
5.To apply the principles of reproductive rights and gender issues related to family planning.
6.To analyse and use the WHO guidance documents and tools, training material in family planning for counselling or programming in countries.
7.To develop the skills and confidence to consult with patients about their sexual and reproductive healthcare needs in relation to family planning and be able to recommend an appropriate method of contraception as per individual/couple needs.

2.Contraceptive Methods (for each contraceptive method, the online presentation will include the following topics: mechanism of action, indicators of effectiveness, side effects, non-contraceptive benefits, eligibility criteria and interventions for certain problems during use)

4.Principles of Integration of Family Planning and Counselling, Introduction to Informed Choice, Resources and Financing, Telemedicine
