Take the 2018 Eat Local Challenge
Despite the prevalence of agribusiness in SC, more than 90% of our food is still imported, which means most of our food travels an average of 1,500 miles before it reaches our plates! Choosing to eat locally-grown and produced food positively affects our environment, our health, our communities, and our local business economy. Eating local is for everyone, and the ways you can do this are endless.

One way is by joining the Eat Local Challenge. It's designed to help you “Make the Shift” in your habits and spending. With innovative arrangements that link producers and consumers such as community supported agriculture (CSAs), farmers markets, local sections in your grocery store, and farm to table connections, local food is abundant in the Lowcountry!

By digitally signing the pledge below, YOU PLEDGE to help Lowcountry Local First strengthen our local food system. YOU PLEDGE to support your local farmers, fishermen, ranchers and purveyors.

After signing, search "Lowcountry Local First" in your app store, download our free mobile app, and get familiar with the "Eat Local" section. In the meantime, keep an eye out for an email as we approach April 1 that will provide encouragement and resources to help you make the most of your Challenge. (PS - We promise we won't share your personal information with anyone outside of Lowcountry Local First.)

Thanks for making a commitment to local!
