Latinas Increasing Political Strength | LIPS
Application Information
DUE DATE: January 24th, 2020

Latinas Increasing Political Strength (LIPS) is a leadership institute designed for Latinas, by Latinas. Our goal is to empower young women into taking action on issues they care about. The program is open to young people 16-21 years old in the Denver metro area, and engages participants in a vibrant community of activists.

We meet at our office in Denver's Capitol Hill roughly every other Saturday in February, March, and April, with additional events and opportunities throughout. You will learn how culture and politics affect our lives, what it takes to change lives and laws, and all about reproductive justice and how it affects your personal freedoms and opportunities.

We then travel to Washington D.C. to put those skills to use lobbying Congress and meeting with our national partners.

COLOR is committed to keeping LIPS accessible, so there is no up-front cost to attending LIPS. However, during the program we ask that each participant commit to fundraising $150-250 from their community by working with LIPS coordinator and other LIPS members to put on a fundraiser. This would require the LIPS participant to donate a home-cooked dish to serve at the fundraiser event. Ample support will be given throughout the program to ensure participants have the tools they need to succeed at this task.
