Volunteers play a key-role at the market working a wide range of tasks. Market Volunteers assist in running our information booth answering questions, providing education and resources, processing sales transactions, maintaining a clean market, as well as, some lifting and moving of equipment. Volunteers should be able and willing to work outdoors.
The Phoenix Public Market runs every Saturday morning, rain or shine, year round. Therefore, volunteers must be able to work Saturdays. Volunteers should be able to dedicate at least one Saturday morning a month to helping out at the market. Shift times are from 7:30am – 10:30am and 10:15am to 1:15pm.
Volunteer RolesInformation Booth:Our information booth team is the face of our market! Volunteers working in the information booth will assist in greeting and educating visitors about the market’s mission and vendor inquiries. Volunteers will also assist in running credit card transactions, selling merchandise and providing resources.
Market Support:Our market is busy and we can always use extra hands to make sure the market is clean and running smoothly. Market Support volunteers should be friendly, able to walk around the market, be well versed in market information and comfortable with hauling and carrying equipment. Volunteers will assist onsite chef and/or community partners with their programming. This could range from helping to carry equipment to handing out samples and will vary depending on the week. Trash maintenance to monitor cans around the market and pick up random trash around market and parking lot.
Market Breakdown:At the close of each market, we need assistance in breaking down all of the equipment. These volunteers should be able to lift 50 pounds and work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions. Volunteers will be led by market staff in how to break down.
