Overview:

As part of The Sunset Project’s sponsorship of the upcoming Junk Art Rebel documentary telling the story of Tom Lakenen and the Lakenenland Art Park in the U.P., Traverse City filmmakers Joseph Beyer and Jordan Anderson will lead a keynote and workshop designed to engage current and past Sawyer J. Boyd Grant Recipients, emerging creatives, and Northeast Michigan community members in hands-on learning about real-world filmmaking, fundraising, and film distribution.

In 2023, Beyer and Anderson made their feature debut Marqueetown and toured it across Michigan with a total budget of only $52,000 - titled “Top Ten Lessons to Do Something Big for Less” the filmmakers reflect back on their top takeaways from the experience that anyone can apply to something Big they need to do with Less.

Participants will gain insight into what it takes to produce an independent documentary—and even have the chance to contribute directly to the creation of Junk Art Rebel.
