Please complete this form to sign up for our FREE citizenship classes. There are two class options dependent on English level: 
  • Basic English level class: This class is for legal permanent residents/green card holders who want to improve their English and become U.S. citizens. Students should have high beginning or low intermediate level of English proficiency. This class is taught by an instructor from the Urbana Adult Education Center and will help you improve your reading and writing through study of U.S. government and history. 

  • Fast-Track Class:  This class is for legal permanent residents/green card holders at the intermediate or advanced ESL level with high levels of prior education. Resources for independent study will be made available. This is class is taught by the New American Welcome Center's Intercultural Development Trainer.

About our Citizenship Class and Immigration Legal Services: The University YMCA is a DOJ recognized agency with two DOJ partially accredited representatives in the New American Welcome Center's Immigration Legal Services and Assistance program. Our representatives can provide immigration legal advice and representation on certain immigration legal cases, including naturalization (i.e., citizenship) applications.
