Inputs into "Rome Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+"
In the lead up to the 2019 Pre-HLPF SDG16 Conference, the TAP Network and IDLO will host a pre-conference civil society day on Sunday 26 May, for all civil society stakeholders attending the conference. It is envisaged that this Rome civil society day will culminate in the "Rome Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+", which will serve as an important input into the outcomes from the Rome Conference. This Rome Declaration will also be important for mobilizing civil society advocacy around the 2019 HLPF in July, as well as the SDGs Summit in September.

In an attempt to coalesce around some key messages to include in this Rome Declaration, we are soliciting inputs to include in the content of this Declaration in the lead up to the pre-conference civil society day. This is also to help ensure that civil society colleagues that are not able to attend the Rome Conference are able to contribute their key messages for inclusion in this Rome Declaration.

Please fill out this form to share your key messages for the 2019 Pre-HLPF SDG16 Conference, to be considered for inclusion in the "Rome Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+".

Co-facilitators for the drafting group of the Rome Declaration include:
- Peter van Sluijs, The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS)
- Pascal Richard, Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC)
- Coco Lammers, Namati; Co-chair of the Transparency, Accountability & Participation (TAP) Network

DEADLINE FOR INPUTS: Wednesday 22 MAY 2019

Background information on the Rome SDG16 Conference:

In preparation for the 2019 HLPF, the Division for Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA/DSDG) and IDLO, together with partners, are organizing, in preparation for the 2019 HLPF, a conference on progress towards SDG 16, as well as its role in advancing the vision and Goals embodied in the 2030 Agenda. The conference will address this role in the perspective of the contribution that its individual targets can make to these ends, but also in the context of the broader considerations and objectives that bind them and underlie the Goal as a whole. It will be informed by the principles of universality, integration, justice and equality and the approaches to sustainable development contained in the entire Agenda.

Please share your advocacy messages for the Rome SDG16 Conference and the 2019 HLPF
Please provide information regarding your advocacy messages, including:
1) The over-arching topics/themes/categories that your key messages fall under (For example: Data and monitoring, capacity building, VNRs, HLPF Reform, etc.) - This will help us categorize and structure the Rome Declaration as best as possible
2) The details of your key messages, which ideally should include concrete proposals and recommendations. This can include recommendations for Member States/national governments to take forward, for the international system/the UN to take forward, or even for civil society stakeholders to prioritize. These broad categories are the topics that are clustered together for the 3 main work streams of the Rome Conference, and will help facilitate a more efficient means of input for the Rome Declaration.
