Telling the stories of pediatric patients to amplify their voices in healthcare and promote person-centered care.
iCAN Chapter at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC)
Description:
The Power to the Patients Project is a storytelling project compiling the narratives of pediatric patients to empower their voices in healthcare. Conducting interviews with the patients provides them with an emotional outlet, and iCAN members benefit from being able to learn about their experience on the receiving side of medicine as they compose their story.
Patients are interviewed, then an iCAN member writes their story in the form of a feature article with a length of about 400-500 words.
Stories will be made accessible on the iCAN CHOC page and shared with healthcare providers at CHOC to better inform pediatric patient care.
We are looking for pediatric patients, past or present, who are willing to share their experience and be interviewed for the project. We are also open to more writers for the project, those who will interview patients and draft their stories.
