The purpose of the HEAL foster program is to assist in the placement of abandoned cats and kittens found or acquired by our organization. The caregiver is the most important determinant of a cat’s welfare and there is no substitute for human care and attention. We seek fosters who love cats and are knowledgeable about them. Our fosters must be prepared to set aside time dedicated to interacting with and caring for the foster cats.

Young/Weaned kittens (4-8 weeks old) –6 week commitment with increased risk of health issues

Mom cat & litter – 2-3 month commitment
Bottle babies without moms (intense 1-4 week commitment including middle of night feedings)

I UNDERSTAND THAT THE FOSTER CATS/KITTENS ARE THE PROPERTY OF HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC .AND I AM NOT ALLOWED TO KEEP THEM, GIVE THEM AWAY OR ADOPT THEM OUT WITHOUT HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC.APPROVAL.  FURTHERMORE, I AGREE TO IMMEDIATELY RETURN THE FOSTER ANIMALS UPON DEMAND BY HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC.

I UNDERSTAND THAT FOSTERING INVOLVES THE RISK OF INJURY SUCH AS CAT BITES (WHICH CAN BECOME INFECTED) AND SCRATCHES AS WELL AS OTHER DANGERS SUCH AS TRIPPING HAZARDS.  FURTHERMORE, FOSTER ANIMALS CAN DAMAGE OR BREAK ITEMS AROUND THE RESIDENCE. I ACCEPT THIS RISK AND WILL NOT HOLD HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC.LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURIES WHILE FOSTERING OR VOLUNTEERING IN ANY CAPACITY.

I UNDERSTAND THAT HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC. MAKES EVERY EFFORT TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY ANIMALS.HOWEVER, CATS AND KITTENS ARE SUBJECT TO DISEASE, INJURIES AND ABNORMALITIES.IF AT ANY TIME I BECOME AWARE OF A HEALTH OR BEHAVIORAL ISSUE, I WILL CONTACT IMMEDIATELY AND, IF ADVISED, TRANSPORT THE ANIMAL TO THE VETERINARIAN OR LOCATION OF THEIR CHOICE.

I UNDERSTAND THAT FOSTERING FOR HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC. INVOLVES A SERIOUS TIME COMMITMENT TO CARE FOR AND INTERACT WITH THE FOSTER CATS/KITTENS. THIS IS ESSENTIAL TO THE SUCCESS OFF FOSTERING. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL NOT BE FINANCIALLY COMPENSATED IN ANY FORM FOR THIS TIME.

IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION WHOSE VOLUNTEERS WORK CLOSELY TOGETHER.  THE GROUP KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CATS AND KITTENS IS VERY EXTENSIVE.  HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC. FULLY UNDERSTANDS THAT ISSUES AND ERRORS DO OCCUR, AND WE ONLY ASK PEOPLE TO TRY THEIR BEST. I UNDERSTAND THAT I NEED TO BE WILLING TO ASK FOR HELP AND ADVICE AND THAT I WILL BE WILLING TO ADMIT MISTAKES AND PROBLEMS.

I UNDERSTAND THAT I MUST CALL TO HAVE AN AUTHORIZED MEMBER OF HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE INC. TO PRE-ARRANGE ALL VETERINARY APPOINTMENTS WITH THEIR SPECIFIED VETERINARIAN. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS ARE LIFE AND DEATH SITUATIONS WHERE EMERGENCY CARE IS VITAL.

 I UNDERSTAND THAT HAVEN ON EARTH ANIMAL LEAGUE, INC. CATS/KITTENS CAN NEVER BE ALLOWED OUTSIDE NOR IN AN AREA WITH A SWIMMING POOL.  FURTHERMORE, THE CATS/KITTENS CANNOT BE LEFT UNSUPERVISED WITH SMALL CHILDREN.
