2024 Mechanical and Medical Outrider Application
Once your application has been submitted, we will be in touch with you about the next steps in the application process. Thank you for your interest!

Bike Medics have been rebranded as Medical Outriders. Whether you're a new applicant or a returning member of the Cascade Bike Medics, please complete the form below to apply for a role in assisting riders with medical concerns and offering support in 2024.

Who We Are:
Outriders (Mechanical and Medical) are a highly skilled and experienced volunteer group that provide ride support at Cascade Bicycle Club events. Outriders volunteer to deliver exceptional course support for logistical, mechanical, traffic, and medical incidents in addition to providing information and moral support.

Mechanical Outrider Commitment:
Mechanical Outriders support Cascade rides from Chilly Hilly through Kitsap Color Classic. Outriders are expected to attend an orientation, and also are encouraged to take offered training in bicycle repair, first aid, directing traffic, or other topics related to their service. Outriders commit to supporting at least three Cascade rides in the year, one of which must be a “major event”. “Major events” are: Chilly Hilly, Flying Wheels, Day 1 of STP, and Day 2 of STP.

Medical Outrider Commitment
Medical Outriders ride and support Flying Wheels, Seattle To Portland (STP), and Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party (RSVP). Medical Outriders also attend a special in-person medical training session prior to Flying Wheels on Saturday, June 1. Multiple training dates will be available. Dates are TBD.

Who Should Apply:
If you’re already the kind of person who stops when you see someone by the side of the road, and gives them a hand with a flat, medical issue, or encourages them to keep on going - you’re the kind of person who would make a good Outrider. Outriders get entrance to the rides they support at no cost. You gain the camaraderie of your fellow Outriders, and the thanks of so many that we help along the way. If you look forward to the opportunity to help others, we welcome your application!

Commitment to Diversity:
We encourage women, people of color, LBGTQ+ folks, and others who have not necessarily been well-represented among Outriders, Cascade Bicycle Club, or the larger cycling community to apply.  Outriders are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our team.
