Thank you for your interest in being a member of CTA's Board of Directors!
Founded in 1971, CTA is an exciting, multi-faceted, social justice organization that helps create communities that are socially just, ecologically sound and work for everyone by providing educational programs and fiscal sponsorship services to innovative social change initiatives. Our diverse projects vary tremendously in terms of the issues they address, their programs, and methodologies. What ties them together is their positive, constructive approach to transforming the structures as well as the habits of mind that produce inequities in our communities and society.

Board service includes contributing to a collaborative, generative learning environment on how to practice Transformative Action (see a definition on our website) and working together to become an anti-racist organization.  We welcome people with diverse interests, areas of expertise, and life experiences to serve on the board and guide the organization's work. The focus of the CTA board of directors is the nonprofit infrastructure, expertise, and back office services we provide our projects. Our team is constantly evolving, deepening our commitment to the social justice mission and values of this 50 year-old organization.
Board Responsibilities
Our board of directors holds the legal and fiduciary responsibility associated with CTA and all our projects. The board reviews and approves new project applications,  approves their annual budgets, and ensures that our policies and practices are legally sound and exemplify our values and priorities as a social justice organization.

We are a growing organization, looking to add several more people to our board of directors. We seek people with diverse interests, areas of expertise, and experiences to guide the organization's social justice work.

The board meets monthly and all members serve on a committee that also has monthly meetings. Members should expect to set aside an average of 10 hours/ month for preparation and participation on committees and at board meetings.
