Once a month, three writer applicants will be selected to come in for a co-write session, held at Toronto's SOCAN Sound Lounge. Participants for “Song Camp Mondays” are selected at random from all submissions, about two weeks before each session. If you’re selected, we’ll contact you at that time. Once your submission has been received, it will remain on file throughout the calendar year of 2017.
Each session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the second-floor Sound Lounge of SOCAN’s Toronto office. At 1:00 pm, there will be a break for pizza lunch provided by the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.), which includes a brief “SOCAN 101” session to explain how to register the co-written song with SOCAN and all the ways of getting paid followed by a short introduction to the S.A.C.
The challenge? To complete one new song in a day.
You MUST be willing to work collaboratively and cooperatively.
You MUST come into the session with an open mind and be open to working across all genres and skill levels.
You MUST be willing to split the new work created in equal shares, regardless of the individual parties contribution to the final work.
You MUST be a SOCAN Member to apply. For more information on becoming a member, please visit http://www.socan.ca/join-socan
