** We are sorry , but if the cats or kittens are unsocialized/feral/can't be easily handled, WE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT TAKE THEM! We do not have the fosters or a facility to hold them in and nowhere to place them. Please search for feral rescues.**   NOTE: We only accept cats from towns that are in or close to Southbury, CT. We also do not accept out-of-state transfers.

Cat Surrender Fee Policy
To help cover the cost of care, Whiskers Pet Rescue requires a $125 surrender fee for each adult cat being surrendered into our care. This fee helps us provide essential medical attention, food, shelter, and other necessary resources to prepare the cat for adoption. However, if you’re experiencing financial difficulties we can discuss a possible lower fee or waive the fee.

Please Note:
We do not charge a surrender fee for litters of kittens, as we recognize the unique circumstances and increased urgency these situations often present, however, any donation that can be made is greatly appreciated.

Is the cat up to date on vaccines?   *Having current rabies and distemper vaccines will make it easier for us to accept the cat. If you can get them up-to-date, it would definitely help. *

Has the cat been tested for FIV/FeLV? If you aren't sure, ask your vet. *Getting this test will make it easier for us to accept the cat. Note that a positive test for FIV does not mean we will not take the cat, we just need to know. If it is a mother cat with kittens, only the mom needs to be tested. We cannot take FeLV+ cats. *
