STEM Academy at 6 Ponds Farm
Incorporating Environmental Scientific Investigations to Your STEM Program
June 27, 2018
9:30 am-4:00 pm

Workshop conducted by Dr. Gilda Lyon & Cindy Hillsman

Cost is free!

This academy is designed to introduce K-12 teachers to environmental monitoring as a means for students to design scientific investigations. Learn how to set up ecological plots on your school campus and measure the environmental health of your school grounds. You will learn to use forestry tools for mathematical measurements then build your own set to take home. Join us for a fun day outdoors where you will wander through the woods taking interesting measurements and building those instruments in the barn. Dress appropriately for the outdoors (long pants and hiking boots or sneakers).

*There are some accommodations available at no cost on the farm. Contact Gilda at 423.505.2227 for additional information.
