Emerge is a 40-week Intimate Partner Abuse Education Program (IPAEP) located in Malden, Massachusetts. We are an education and counseling program for individuals who have been abusive to an intimate partner. It is not a support group or therapy. Participants are expected to attend one 2-hour group session per week. All groups are facilitated by two Emerge counselors.  

At Emerge, participants will learn about intimate partner abuse and the effects. We address all forms of abuse and domestic violence (including, but not limited to, physical, psychological, verbal, financial, and sexual abuse). Participants begin in an introductory group (First Stage) for the first 8 weeks of the program, where they will learn more about these topics through educational lessons. After completing the First Stage of the program, participants will transition to another group (Second Stage) for the remaining 32 weeks of the program. In the Second Stage, participants will be expected to discuss their abuse in more detail, reflect on their relationships, and be accountable for their behavior and its effects in an ongoing way.
