QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP:
The Society membership is open to all individuals of Bangladeshi origin over the age of 18 years;
(a) their spouses, common-law partners, and children over the age of 18 year;
(b) those who are residing in Canada;
(c) those who support the mission, vision, and guiding principles of the Society;
(d) those who submit application for membership to the Society by signing an application form which indicates compliance with all specified membership criteria identified in these by-laws.
Please note that for individuals who have no intention to pay membership fee but subscribe to the BCFS values and guiding principles, the Society also offers a Type II membership. Please refer to the Society by-laws for details of such membership. However, the Society ultimately belongs to the Type I voting members in good standings.
INSTRUCTIONS AND POLICIES:
According to the Bangladesh Canada Friendship Society (BCFS) by-laws, society membership is valid from January 1 of the application year until the December 31 of the same year. To be considered for membership in the BCFS, the applicant shall (i) submit his/her signed application, (ii) meet the criteria set in the Society Bylaws, and (iii) comply with the Society bylaws and the Society policies.
When preparing your application, remember that neatness counts. If you are completing the application by hand, please be legible. If you are entering information into the Word or PDF document, please honor the formatting.
TYPE I MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS:
- Voting rights in members’ meetings and BCFS Election
- Can be elected as the BCFS Officers/Board of Director
- Will have first-priority access to various BCFS programs and services
- Will receive 20% discount over any program and service fees of BCFS events
- Attend AGM and BCFS Members only dinner
- Attend BCFS Members only events – there are events only for BCFS members- not open to all
