Ecovillage Georgia is represented by a group of approximately 20 Georgian and international people united by shared values and the intention to set up an intentional community. We have bought land in 2023, and are in the process of creating a sustainable, ecological and low impact residential community in rural Georgia.
Where?
We bought an amazing piece of land in the village of Ninigori, Lagodekhi municipality, Kakheti, around 2,5 hours away from Tbilisi. There is an asphalt road leading there and public transport is going nearby. There are also shops and a direct connection to the village.
The 6.5 ha agricultural land includes a little stream, fruit and nut trees and a 1000 m2 cattle farm building as well as two small (one room-) buildings in the entrance of the property. There is infrastructure like internet, gas, electricity and water (including a garden area with a functioning irrigation system). From spring 2024, renovations will start to make the place livable.
Vision?
We are a group of Georgian and international people, a voluntarily, self-organised, non-hierarchical, inclusive community thriving in mutual respect and support. We are co-learning and implementing approaches to regenerative ecology and culture. Being interconnected with the wider community, we desire to create a sustainable society.
WHAT?
We envision creating an innovative living, learning and working space for Max. 30 households,(individual and co-living) including residential, long term living opportunities, community area (including the renovation of existing buildings on the land, as a community/educational centre) and permaculture garden, workshop space, small, fair businesses, open learning space for young and old, etc.
HOW?
The land of the Ecovillage is owned by the not for profit organisation REimagine 4 (COlive, COlearn, COwork, COcreate), which is run by the members of the Ecovillage. Residents lend money to the NGO that enables it to buy the land and its future development. Each resident is entitled to a plot of land to build their house and sustain themselves, and make use of the community infrastructure.
WHY?
We are united in the desire to build up a regenerative, just and resilient community with a positive impact on the people around us and globally. We strive for a lively, valuable community and trustful surrounding to use our full potentials and to constantly learn with and from each other.
Steps to join
We recognize that building your life in an ecovillage is a major life commitment, and understand that applicants may not have all the answers to the questions. This application aims to explore if we meet each other's expectations and get initial information. Residents and volunteers will undergo a process to get to know all about our endeavours, have an ‘Ecovillage Buddy’. We ask new potential residents to work with us for at least 6 months as a probation period, to make sure the match is a good one for everyone.
If you wish to be a part of the project as a resident or volunteer, or connect otherwise, please fill up the form and let's set up this amazing project together!
The Ecovillage Georgia team will get back to you to agree on further steps and meet you within a couple of days!
