ICIC_Craft human resource mapping in India
International Centre for Indian craft (ICIC), NID Ahmedabad, is committed to the development of the Indian craft sector through Design Research and Practice. The centre located in the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is envisioning cooperating with various stakeholders in the field to bring in significant difference to critical gaps. The goal is enabling an ecosystem where the producers and community are valued and respected for their skills. The producer becomes active stakeholders and beneficiaries of the creative economy of our country.
We are at NID beliefs in value-based Design education fundamentally believe that Design as a tool for social good can bring in the country’s prosperity through “made in India” and “design in India” with a holistic approach. Design and design research can be a potential tool to identify the gaps /opportunities within the craft sector in India and can bridge with a strategic/systemic solution to achieve Sustainability.
With this ambition in mind, we collect a pool of good people who (artisans, scholars, NGOs, organizations, the list is not limited ) have the genuine intention to help this sector. As a student researcher or you are the project head must have recently met during the field visit to craft clusters across India. The contribution by the team will make a significant difference to our craft contact resource bank by ICIC. With the feedback, ICIC, NID may Call for platforms to encourage the artisan, and it will be a source of significant support for our students, faculty, and independent researchers to achieve the design-driven goals on the field.
