Friends of the TRF Herd: TRF Volunteer Application
Thank you for your interest in supporting the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) in Saratoga Springs, NY!
As the oldest and largest Thoroughbred rescue, our organization provides sanctuary to those retired racehorses who are unable to pursue a second athletic career. We currently care for a herd of 500+ valiant, aging athletes living in 19 farms, in 9 states, and in 8 TRF Second Chances Program - including our newest farm: the TRF Sanctuary Farm at Chestnut Hall in Prospect, KY.
In 2021, the TRF team is excited about building and engaging a broad network of friends of the TRF to help us spread the word about our work for the horses and to help us expand our base of support for our horses and our programs from across the Saratoga community.
There are many ways to get involved!
This application is designed to help the TRF assess each individual's level of interest, experience and availability across all of our programs. Once we receive your information, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch with details about our first specific volunteer opportunities (dates, times, locations & expectations). Please note, most (but not all) of our near term volunteer opportunities are located around our HQ in Saratoga Springs, NY. A few of our TRF Second Chances Programs and Sanctuary Farms have local volunteer opportunities. Our Saratoga-based team has many year-round projects and opportunities to support our fundraising work and in summertime we have horses to care for at our Saratoga Summer Farm and many events where volunteers are incredibly helpful.
By completing this form, you are granting permission for the TRF to add your name and personal information to our database for future communication from the TRF to keep you informed of our programs. Completion of the form does not guarantee an assignment of a volunteer role, nor does it commit the applicant to any expectation from the TRF.
