After seeing many of their teammates get sick with COVID-19, agricultural workers at several warehouses in Yakima County have been on strike for the past two weeks in order to ensure protective equipment, hazard pay, and safe conditions at their workplaces. Whilst Black and brown workers across the United States are disproportionately getting sick from coronavirus, Yakima County - which has the most farms of any county in Washington State and a population that is half Latinx - now has the highest rate of COVID-19 on the West Coast.

Call today to support the farmworker strikes in Washington state in solidarity with workers who have walked off the job due to health and safety concerns around COVID-19!

While some of the workers have won health protections and are returning to work, many of the strikes continue, including at Allan Brothers Fruit, Jack Frost, Matson Fruit Co., and Columbia Reach (May 24 was day 18 of the Allan Brothers strike).

These farmworkers continue to work hard during this global pandemic to ensure that we have food to eat, but they are being exploited. You can help support their efforts to win protections by joining us to make calls to the farms and the governor's office.

Después de que varios de sus compañeros de trabajo se enfermaron de COVID-19, trabajadores agrícolas en varios empaques en el Condado de Yakima han estado en huelga estas últimas dos semanas para asegurar equipo protectivo, paga adicional y condiciones seguras en sus lugares de trabajo. Mientras los trabajadores negros e inmigrantes a traves de Estados Unidos se estan enfermando de coronavirus a niveles más altos que el resto de la población, el Condado de Yakima--el cual tiene más granjas que cualquier otro en Estado de Washington y donde la mitad de la poblacion es latina--ahora tiene la tasa más alta en Estados Unidos de COVID-19.
