Return to School 2020-2021
The Juniata County School District has received information from Governor Wolf's office and the PA Dept. of Education that the District will be permitted to open for students in the fall in the Green and Yellow phases as long as a Health and Safety Plan has been developed and approved by the Directors of the School Board.
We are asking for input in key areas of this plan. Within this plan, the District is preparing to provide an educational program that meets the Pennsylvania School Code of 180 days. Based on the guidance received, the District is in the process of defining protocols and procedures in the Green and Yellow phases. Preliminary definitions can be found below:
1. Green and/or Yellow Phase - In-person instruction at school with enhanced safety precautions/protocols ands allow "opt-out" provisions for at-risk students/families to learn remotely. Specific health and safety protocols and distinctions between Green and Yellow will be identified in our JCSD Health and Safety Plan.
2. Red Phase - We would be required to conduct 100% online remote learning with full school year expectations, attendance and grading.
We are thoughtfully preparing for all scenarios above, and want to understand what our parents' thoughts and concerns for next year are as we generate more detailed plans.
As data and information continues to become available over the summer, we may ask you to complete this survey again to see if thoughts have changed.
You may take this survey multiple times for each child in your household as your answers may be different based on the age of your children.
Your perception of your child's health and wellbeing is important to us. Please fill out this survey by June 30, 2020. Your feedback will help us plan for the reopening of schools. Please keep in mind that your responses will guide us in our local decision-making but ultimately we may be directed by the state.
