Portfolios at RNPS
RNPS has long had a hard copy portfolio that goes home each semester to share some of the work students have completed through the year. This is a great way to share how students grow and develop in their learning each year and, for many families, is a valuable record of the student's time at school.
Over the years, the structure and content of portfolios will have shifted and changed to meet a variety of needs or preferences. In 2020, we are reviewing how we use portfolios so that we can make the home-school link stronger and support students even more.
A few things to note:
* We have no intention of getting rid of student portfolios, we are just wanting to review: a) what goes in them and why and, b) to consider what is communicated home and how effectively this is done.
* We have some ideas about what we think parents want but we do not know for certain. This is the only effective way to let us know what you think.
* This is a consultation with the community, from which we will design a solution that takes into consideration all parent responses, the needs and responses of students (through different forums) and the practical implications for teachers and their work.
