Heights Farm-to-Table Program 2017
We are looking for families interested in joining our Farm-to-Table program, which is meant to encourage healthy, delicious eating from locally grown food. Our events include touring local gardens, hosting on- and off-site events featuring local chefs preparing dishes using ingredients our students have grown, and working alongside our children in the school gardens.
No gardening experience is necessary, although a healthy appetite is a plus! There is a role for any type of involvement from planning events, working in the garden, or simply attending and eating tasty food at local restaurants. Past hosts include Snooze and L'Auberge restaurants, as well as Sur La Table cooking school. As we like to say at Farm-to-Table, "Lettuce Turnip the Beet!"
By filling out this form, you are indicating interest in the Farm-to-Table (FtT) program at the Heights and will receive communications regarding upcoming events.
First and last name of student(s). You may include more than one.
Parent email address. (Type carefully as this will be our main line of communication.)
Parent phone number.
This year, in order to emphasize the importance of the FARM in Farm-to-Table, we will continue to provide students (and families) the opportunity to help in the school garden. Some farming events will be on the weekend and require parent supervision- we're thinking "Pizza in the Garden" might be fun! Students who participate in garden club or other "farming" events will have first priority when it comes to restaurant events using our crops.
We understand students who participate in "farming" have first priority for restaurant events.
Speaking of weekend "farming" events, choose the timeframes below that typically work best for your family:
Mark all that apply.
Saturday 9 a.m. - noon
Saturday 12-3 p.m.
Saturday 3-6 p.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. - noon
Sunday 12-3 p.m.
Sunday 3-6 p.m.
Our FtT Parent Committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers that will bring their energy and ideas in how we can grow (pun intended!) the program. The parent group will meet 2-4 times during the year with most communication done via email. The group will put on 4-6 events during the year both on and off site as well as coordinate opportunities to help with the maintenance of the gardens. No experience is necessary and there is a role for any type of involvement.
I would love to join the FtT Parent Committee.
I can't commit to joining the committee, but can help as needed for certain events/tasks.
Unfortunately, due to other obligations, I'm not able to help the FtT Parent Committee at this time.
