Teaching elders, ruling elder commissioners, balancing elders, corresponding members, presenters and staff will meet in person. Advance registration is requested by Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

The sermon will be given by Avery Arden, an autistic, gender-queer minister residing in Atlanta with their wife and two cats. They are a board member with the More Light Presbyterians and creator of the "Blessed Are the Binary Breakers" multifaith podcast.

The business meeting -- with a theme of Lift Up Your People -- will focus on the work of our congregations plus first reading of the 2024 proposed presbytery budget. Two candidates will be examined for ordination.

After lunch, there will be a presentation and panel discussion led by Arden and Nominating & Representation Committee members about gender and sexual diversity. The panel will feature presbytery members and congregations speaking about their experiences with the topic.

A boxed Mediterranean-style sandwich pie lunch will be served. The cost is $14 per person. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Reservations are due via the advance registration form by Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Please indicate during registration whether you plan to order lunch.

Payment may be made by mailing a check to the Presbytery of Lake Michigan at 1511 Helen Avenue, Portage, MI 49002 OR by submitting payment via an electronic portal. (It is recommended that you set up an account when using this method so it can be used again in the future. Select "Payment-Lunch Order" and use the notes field to indicate for whom the lunch is being ordered. Also, note that the system withholds a 2% transaction fee for each payment made with a debit or credit card. Childcare will be available in the nursery for children from 2 to 7 years old during this meeting. Please indicate on the registration form the name and ages of each child that will need care. Childcare requests must be submitted by Tuesday, September 5, 2023 so adequate staffing can be arranged. If no one requests childcare by the deadline, the service will not be provided.
