SCA Coalition Grassroots Leaders
Fill out this info...

1-- IF YOU'RE NEW TO THE COALITION GRASSROOTS TEAM and want to plug in with the "grasstops" of community groups

2-- IF YOU NEED A SLACK INVITE

3-- IF YOU WANT YOUR LOCAL GROUP included on a list of Local Grassroots Contacts for SCA! (new; toward end of form)

Goals!
To win Safe Communities Act (and other work around immigration, too!) WE NEED TO BE CONNECTED and together build a strong, statewide grassroots community of organizers. Working at times on their own things, and at times, IN COORDINATION with the larger movement--this is how we build power and legitimacy.
Towards the Goals of Connecting
We are using Slack as a space for grasstops / leaders to engage in community-wide discussion and to connect with other organizers. If you are working on Safe Communities, please join!

If you have other people on your team who should be part of the channel too, please submit another entry with their name and contact too. Periodically we will send out invites for Slack; if you don't see one after a few days, please contact info@safecommunitiesact.com , RE: Slack Access/SCA

Towards the Goals of Coordination
** You will also be added to an SCA-organizers only announce-list-serv for occasional updates (usually in advance of "official" comms from Coalition) **

Community Outreach (directed, to police chiefs, electeds, municipal leaders...)
Community Education (events to inform, discuss, build awareness/support)
Mobilize calls to the statehouse
Organize letters to the editor, op-eds, in local papers
Delegation vists to Legislators
Regular/routine and escalating "asks" to Legislators for increasing support/advocacy
"Friendbank" outreach to personal networks (organizing!) to pressure lawmakers (scary but important)
Phonebank to voter lists, to educate and ask them to pressure lawmakers
Organize letters, postcards to legislators
Tabling/leafletting at community events
Amplify and "shape the narrative" in social media
Canvassing (knocking doors) in strategic communities
Showing up, providing bodies for rallies and press conferences
How would you describe your group?
Are you a community group? Affiliated? Do you see yourself as deep-in-the-weeds policy folk, grasstop community organizers, "bodies" who can show up for actions? Coordinator of a collection of grassroots groups (umbrella role, eg Progressive Massachusetts)? Please describe what's relevant and useful!

How would the SCA coalition BEST get information and actions to your group's members?
get everyone on an email list? communicate/work with one point person who will bring the message to the rest to take action? ...? Ideally, we would rely on a point person/organizer to get our message -- and facilitate the follow-thru-- to your broader group.

We Want to Post A Directory of SCA Community Groups and Contacts
--so that people browsing our site would know that they can connect with others working in their area (and for us to quickly know who to contact, too!)

Ideally, that list would have the group's name, a real person's name (to make it more personal) and a monitored email address where folks could send a message to connect.

Please indicate below if you'd agree to sharing this information on our SafeCommunitiesAct.com page

It would look something like this:
Do you want your group to be added to such a listing (viewable on the web so that 'new' people will know how to plug in)?
Could we share on a public website:
Yes
No
Name of your group
Group website for info (or fb page etc)
Real-person contact name
Email address for that real person
Anything else?
