June 23: Birding with Pride: Birding for Beginners *FULL* 9 - 11 a.m. at Soldiers Delight Visitor Center Join us for this Pride Month event, where we will be covering the basic of birdwatching on a hike and discussing the great diversity of sexuality in the natural world, including our avian neighbors. All identities are welcome! Sign up encouraged. Groups larger than 5 must sign up in advance. Spots for 15 participants. Shine only.

June 24: Grandparents & Me: Reptile Wrap Up 11-noon at Soldiers Delight Visitor Center Join us for an introduction to three of our scaly creatures! Learn the myths, histories, and benefits of these often misunderstood animals. Grandparents and grandkids will be delighted to meet their elders! Just remember to ask us about our resident box turtle. Rain or shine. Sign up encouraged. Groups larger than 5 must sign up in advance. All ages welcome. 

June 26: River Snorkeling *FULL* 6-7:30 p.m. at the Orange Grove area by Shelter 106. Experience freshwater river snorkeling and discover the underwater world of Patapsco. Masks and snorkels available in limited quantities. Maximum 7 participants. Air and water temperature must be a combined minimum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Sign up required. Shine only. Age 18+. 

June 27: Basics of Fishing *FULL* 9 -Noon at McKeldin Area, Rapids  Come learn how to be a beginner angler, and how our footprints can impact the environment. All Ages encouraged; Fishing License Required. Bring a chair, water, and a snack. We will provide the fishing pole and tackle box, though you are welcome to bring your own. 20 maximum. Fishing license required for participants 16 years and older. Sign up required. 

June 27: Digs for Kids: Hands on Archaeology 12-12:45 p.m. at Avalon Area, William Offutt Johnson History Center A hands on experience! Participate in an archaeological excavation and trowel soil, screen dirt and document any discoveries. Recommended for ages 5-12!  Sign up encouraged. Groups larger than 5 must sign up in advance. Shine only. Great for homeschool groups!

June 7, 14, & 21: Little Explorers *FULL* 9:30 - 10:30 at the Hilton Area Nature Center This is a program for kids ages 0-3 to do with their parents/guardians as we introduce them to the natural world. This is a 6-series long program on Fridays throughout May & June. Families are invited to come for one or all of the series. We start each day with a fun song, story or “get loose” activity and wrap up each day with activities you can do at home. Shine only. Spots for 20 participants. Sign up encouraged.
