Step 1: Establish Communication Channels
a. Visit your library's website (e.g. library.albany.edu) and look for an information literacy department page. Find a contact form or directory information for instruction librarians.

b. Identify your subject librarian and/or related guides or other materials created for your subject area.

OR

c. If you are a librarian, consider department meetings or wider faculty meetings you might attend to identify needs that you can help address.
What are some ways that you might connect with a librarian to start a conversation? If you are a librarian, how might you reach out to faculty? *
Step 2: Identify Your Students' Information Literacy Needs
Now that you have learned more about the various components of information literacy, consider where your students could use more instruction to support these competencies. What do they currently struggle with? Where in your syllabus might you incorporate more explicit information literacy instruction? You may want to refer back to the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy and the knowledge practices you explored to identify potential areas you would like to target in your instruction.
What are your student's specific information literacy needs? *
How might you address these needs with relevant instruction or assignments? *
Step 3: Plan Your Next Steps
Identify an action step you would take toward addressing each of the needs identified in Step 2 (this could include a link to a tutorial or guide, emailing your librarian, sketching out a potential instruction session, etc.).
What steps will you take to begin incorporating information literacy into your instruction? *
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
