2018 Black Creek Adventure Camp Registration
8 weeks of summer camp at the Fairfield Community Center in East Fairfield for children ages 5-12!

We focus on community, a sense of self and exploring local resources through art, sports, the natural world, drama, music, and good ol’ summer fun.

Campers will gain self-confidence, new friendships, and lifelong skills in a careful balance of planned and unplanned opportunities for learning and growth. The camp day will be divided between special instruction from a wide range of local artists, gardeners, athletes, scientists and musicians, and opportunities for free exploration in the camp’s rich collection of games, sports, science, art and music activities. Field trips to the beach, hikes, and berry picking will open doors to Franklin county’s abundant local and natural resources.

Our multi-age camp population (5-12 years old) allows children to reach across grade levels to forge new friendships. Our creative and inspired instructors will help campers thrive in a broad range of areas, while our familiar setting and community based camp provides the a steady routine, high expectations and the safety children need over summer vacation!

Tuesday's are often Field Trip days, and most weeks will feature a trip to a beach, a state park, a hiking trail, an art gallery, and to local farms & gardens.

Camp runs for eight weeks starting June 25th and the last week will start August 13th. Sign up for one or all weeks! Registration is limited, and on a first come, first served basis.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional care is available from 3-4 pm at the rate of $5/day per child.

2018 BCAC WEEKS:

June 25 - 29: Fun in the Sun! - With school behind us, we can now concentrate on the important business of having FUN! Come join us at Black Creek Adventure Camp for a week of arts and crafts, kickball games, nature hikes, a beach trip, watermelon smoothies, tie-dyed t-shirts, friendship bracelets and brand new friendships - all in a laid back, nurturing, endless summer atmosphere.

July 2 - 6: Red, White & Blue Week. We won’t get too political here, but campers will have fun forging their own Declaration of Independence, creating and hand-sewing a BCAC official flag, writing a national anthem(?), and helping to prepare a good ol’ fashioned American cookout, complete with a red, white and blue cake and homemade ice cream! (No camp on the 4th of July!)

July 9 - 13: Where the Wild Things Are...a week of exploring the natural world right in our own backyard: plant and bird identification, animal tracking, emergency shelter building, tree planting, gardening and lots more outdoor fun! The week will include a trip to the Missisquoi Refuge for nature hike and fishing.

July 16 - 20: Local Farms/Local Foods - Bringing this week back after repeated requests by campers and parents! We’ll visit some of the many farms in the region and learn what’s grown/raised/produced right here in Franklin County. Fun activities at each stop, and a chance to sample some fabulous products along the way!

July 23 - 27: Circus Week - Tumbling, jumbling, clowning, (no frowning). Walking tall, (try not to fall!), Crazy costumes, masks and banners, lots of fun, (but mind your manners...) tricks! parades! We’ll play charades! Campers will be invited to join the Puddledock Circus at the 26th annual Jig in the Valley on July 29th.

July 30 - Aug 3: Pamper-Your-Camper Week! Downward facing dogs, tree and butterfly poses, eye bags, mud baths, herbal teas, Haiku and Henna, Silent Walks, and “seaweed” wraps are just some of the "spa treatments" - BCAC-style! - we’ll experience this week.

Aug. 6 - 10: “So you want to be an Artist…” This is your week! Not afraid of making messes, are you? Come experiment with paint, papier mache, charcoal, pottery and collage. We’ll paint on the Long Trail (west of Johnson) and visit the Bryan Memorial and Visions of Vermont art galleries in Jeffersonville.

Aug. 13 - 17: Puddledock Players Theater Week: This week will offer children a wonderful opportunity to gain a little acting experience in a fun, high-energy environment. Each day will be filled with activities that boost self-confidence and encourage new friendships. We’ll cover voice control, choreography, stage presence, costuming and set design as we develop and perform a “story” of the campers’ choosing.
