To the Legislative Assembly of Victoria
The Petition of Residents of Victoria
draws to the attention of the House that
THE ANDREWS GOVERNMENT'S 'RENTFAIR' PROPOSAL WILL REDUCE RENTAL SUPPLY & RAISE RENTS
Labor’s proposed reform of rental laws removes valuable landlord rights including: the ability to end a tenancy, the default refusal of pets, the need for consent for property modifications, and the need to restore the property. Lower bonds will reduce security, which will see investors less inclined to offer their properties and ultimately result in higher rents.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly of Victoria
Calls on the State Government to remove damaging proposals and consult with property owners instead of ignoring them.
