The State of FOIA: Georgetown SPJ Sunshine Week Event
Sunshine Week is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government, transparency and freedom of information. The Georgetown University chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is hosting a panel of well-known media experts and legal specialists who will discuss the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), how journalists use FOIA to enhance their research and reporting, and current challenges to this vital law, which dates back to 1966.

This event will be held on Thursday, March 15, at Georgetown University's Clarendon Campus (3101 Wilson Blvd., Suite 200, Room 229) in Arlington, VA. The panel discussion will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a mixer from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

The event is co-hosted by the Georgetown University Master of Professional Studies in Journalism Program, the Washington, D.C., Professional Chapter of SPJ and the Reporter's Committee for Freedom of the Press. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
