To mark International Women’s Day, we, Palestinian women and the broader Palestinian civil society, call upon our feminist, anti-patriarchal, anti-war, and anti-genocide co-strugglers and all people of conscience to strike for Palestine on 8 March 2025 to disrupt business as usual for Israel’s colonial regime. Our voices are joined by Indigenous Mapuche women of Puelmapu, Southern Patagonia (Argentina) summoning all the confines of the indigenous territories, united in the message that the struggle for Palestine is interconnected with people of struggle on principles of justice, liberation, feminism, anti-colonialism and anti-racism. Together, we mobilize a global front demanding an immediate ceasefire,  ending the apartheid and occupation of Palestine and the oppression of women. To that end we call upon global powers to:
- Sever all military, economic, and diplomatic ties with the Israeli colonial regime.
- Impose an immediate energy and arms embargo on Israel.
Context
As we issue this call, Israel’s settler-colonial regime continues its genocide in Gaza, accelerates annexation and dispossession in the West Bank, and imprisons and tortures Palestinian political prisoners, all while denying millions of refugees their right to return—a reality we have endured for over seven decades, an ongoing Nakba. As such, our struggle does not end with a ceasefire; we resist for the dismantling of the structures of occupation, apartheid, and settler-colonialism.
Over the past 13 months of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Israel has claimed the lives of over 43,000 Palestinians, of which 44% are children. This in itself testifies to Israel’s strategy to break the fabric of Palestinian society and disrupt family structures—destroying the future of our people, and the bearers and backbones of our resistance.
Massacres have become a tragic routine, with entire families wiped from civil registries, bodies burned, dismembered, and children beheaded. Israel has carpet bombed entire neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, and shelters; ethnically cleansed 90% of people in Gaza; and used starvation as a weapon of war.
Palestine Is a Feminist Struggle
Within Zionist ideology, the goal is clear: to erase and dominate the Palestinian people—women, men, and children. Gendered and sexual violence are central to this colonial project, upheld by patriarchy, racism, and  white supremacy. Palestinian women have borne the crushing weight of this violence for decades, enduring displacement, dispossession, imprisonment, sexual violence, the devastation of their families, and the weaponization of their bodies and reproductive capacities as threats.
In the face of this violence, they have always resisted with relentless defiance the inherent patriarchal core of Israel’s oppression. The women of Gaza, enduring genocide, are a testament to this fierce resilience. From the paramedic who wields her body as a shield to rescue the injured from the hail of Israeli fire, to the journalist who turns her camera into a weapon, revealing the brutal reality, to the pregnant woman giving birth in a makeshift tent without medical aid, to the teacher and activist who transform displacement tents into havens of learning and hope—Palestinian women weave courage, defiance, and hope in the pursuit of Palestinian liberation.
Intersectional Solidarity Against Oppression
The genocide in Gaza has laid bare the complicity of major global powers - mainly Western - and their media, as well as corporations and capitalist systems that continue to fund, arm, normalize and shield Israel from accountability. As we resist Zionist colonialism, we are also fighting these systems of oppression at the global level. This is in addition to our fight against the weaponization of feminist discourse — where Orientalist and liberal feminists vilify and dehumanize Palestinian men, while casting Palestinian women as helpless victims, all to justify genocide. True feminism does not turn a blind eye to the structural forms of gendered violence inherent in the Zionist colonial regime.
The ongoing genocide has also taught us that change comes from peoples’ power.
We draw our strength from the solidarity of those who resist alongside us.
Our Call to Action
We call on our global allies to:
- Join the Economic Strike: Refuse participation in economic activities—no work, no shopping, no consumption. Let our collective absence disrupt the systems that profit from colonialism and oppression.
- Protest, Organize, and Raise Awareness: Organize and attend local protests, teach-ins, and events for Palestinian rights.
- Pressure Your Governments to End the Genocide: Demand a comprehensive arms and energy embargo on Israel and the end of all military, diplomatic, and economic ties.
Join us on March 8 to demand an end to the ongoing genocide and Nakba in Palestine. Stand with us until apartheid and occupation are dismantled, refugees return home, and Palestinians achieve freedom and self-determination.
