The ASPB Volunteer Program is an opportunity for undergraduate students with a deep interest in event programming to get involved with planning and assisting with ASPB events. The Volunteer Program offers many opportunities to develop and build on professional and leadership skills in a fun-fast paced environment. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with vendors, campus administrators, and ASPB Directors to make ASPB events come to life!
Interviews will be conducted for the volunteer positions. You will be notified within a week after the application deadline if selected for an interview.

All Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements: • Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above both quarterly and cumulative • Attend Volunteer bi-weekly/weekly meetings with division directors • Attend Events Team Monthly Meetings • Attend All Staff Meetings Quarterly • Attend MANDATORY 2 Day Retreat in the Fall • Complete any assigned projects from leadership or division directors • Work Block Party, Homecoming Bonfire, Winter SOULstice, and Spring Splash Events
Volunteer ProgramThere will be up to 5 representatives for the Concerts, Films & Lectures, Marketing, Special Events, Contemporary Culture, and Membership division, to serve as Volunteers in Programming.
- Volunteers in programming divisions will assist with logistical aspects as determined by the Directors, to include general programming aspects, Quarter for a Cause tie-in, assessment, and outreach.
- Volunteers in the marketing division will assist with graphics for events based on Director’s marketing concept; coverage in the Highlander, press releases, maintaining social media platforms, ensuring the event is listed on the UCR events calendar, ensuring that photos are archived/uploaded appropriately in a timely manner, and Highlander articles related to the event are collected.
**It is highly preferred, but not required, that volunteers in the marketing division have experience in at least one of the following areas and bring their marketing portfolio with them:Graphic DesignPhotography Web Design Blogging FilmingVideo Editing Social Media Platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
Volunteers in the membership team (overseen by the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson) will assist with the coordinating of but not limited to the all staff ASPB Meetings, regular socials, birthday recognition, appreciation cards and be in charge of ASPB's initiative Quarter for a Cause. They will also help the Leadership division foster outreach opportunities in the UCR community and will gain strong professional development skills.
Events TeamThe Events Team is responsible for providing additional support for ASPB events in a variety of ways. Events Team members provide additional support on the day of events, provide event feedback, assist in promoting events, and help in any way that may be necessary. The Events Team position is less of a time commitment but a great opportunity to get to know more about ASPB and hands on experience in working small and large scale events.
All ASPB Volunteer members also participate in all ASPB professional development and community service events.
