This is a 10-40 hour per week role. Ideally you will be able to work 30+ hours/week, but we are open to a part-time contributor as well. We look forward to meeting you!
Content marketing manager
Help us keep students safe on social media so they can one day shine online! We are looking for a highly organized content focused marketing person to join the hardworking team at SmartSocial.com.
About us:
SmartSocial.com helps 2 million people each year to keep their kids safe and positive on social media. Our website pages, videos and newsletter help students, parents, and educators learn how to stay smart (while still having fun!) on social media.
What you will do:
You will help us create and edit weekly content including blogs, newsletters, audio/video podcasts, and more!
We are looking for a team player with great research skills, and critical thinking to discern a lot of information into easy-to-understand pieces. Attention to grammar and detailed tasks are essential. Basic knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for writing would be helpful to optimize your writing from the beginning.
Must be deadline-driven and dependable. We have lots of moving parts on a daily basis and communication across different time zones and schedules. You must consider yourself to be tech-savvy and feel very comfortable using Google workspace (Gmail, Chat, Meet, Calendar, Slides, Docs, Drive, etc.) to get started.
A sampling of other tools we use every day includes Asana (Project Management), Dashlane, Google Analytics, Webflow, Canva, Snappa, Mailchimp, YouTube studio, podcasting service, etc. We’ll show you how we use these tools (and give you lots of training), but any familiarity with these tools (or something similar) is a benefit to show that you can quickly learn new programs.
This position is 100% virtual and has flexible hours. The ideal candidate's schedule will be available 30-40 hours per week to support the team, but we are open to a part time candidate of 10 hours per week as well. We are family-oriented and our team works from every time zone in the United States. The ideal candidate must be able to set aside time for focused work primarily during the business day within the Pacific Time Zone (you don’t have to physically be in Pacific Time, just willing to shift some of your work schedule within that time zone). We have 2-3 hours of live meetings a week (more in your first few months while training), but our schedule is flexible for the right team member's schedule. We’re looking for a long-term team member willing to learn about all aspects of the company and find their niche on the team.
You must be a team player willing to be flexible and communicate your progress and challenges, but also capable of working independently.
Having experience with students in the classroom or extracurricular activities (or your own preteens/teens) is a bonus for the work we do and the communities we serve every day.
Team SmartSocial Perks
Did we forget to mention all of the Team SmartSocial perks? We're fast-paced and rapidly growing. Our small but mighty team is full of talented and motivated individuals who enjoy coming into work. But these awesome perks help just a little too:
The Benefits:
Work from anywhere most of the time! We need you to be most comfortable to get stuff done, so we don’t require that you come into the office! Most of our team works remotely and so you can work from a coffee shop, your living room (or anywhere with a fast and reliable internet connection where you can video chat from time to time and work collaboratively).
Competitive compensation and paid time off, along with ample company paid holidays.
Never working on your birthday again! Hit the beach or the spa, we don’t care what you do, just don’t log into to work! That’s your day.
The position is paid twice a month through an electronic payment as an independent contractor status. After 90 days, full time W2 employment is an option.
