Dominic Giammarco Memorial Award -  The Courage to Come Back Award

Community OR Player Award, Nominated by the Community

The  Dominic Giammarco Memorial Award is an award to recognize a an athlete or Community member that despite dealing with hardship, has added in a positive way to our hockey community.

About this award:

Dominic was an all-around athlete and natural leader of every team he was ever part of. From his youngest age he has been involved in all of North Delta youth sports programs, including soccer, baseball and his favorite minor hockey. No matter what sport team he joined, within weeks of the season starting he rose to be a positive influential leader on his team. When he began minor hockey, his skills were raw. But with great determination and coaching he quickly became a top player and captain along the way.

At the age of 13, Dominic suffered a medical event where it was revealed he had a condition that could prevent him from playing hockey again. Through hard work and determination, he came back and made the rep team the next season. Sadly, his condition struck again and this time was advised he could not play competitively.  The following season he was asked to be an assistant coach.  He accepted and again became an inspiration for his entire team. Never missing a practice or game he showed his team that through hard work and determination you can succeed.

Sadly Dominic did not make it to the following season passing away July 2024.
