Watch the following video that has performers from the Off-Broadway show Stomp and the Harlem Globetrotters in it.
What object was used to create the rhythms you heard in the performance you just watched? *
In Stomp each performer has a part, and they trust each other to do their parts so that the whole thing looks/sounds good, and so no one gets hurt. Each person has a very important part no matter how small or big it is. Describe a time in your life where you were an important part of a group. *
In Stomp this is a perfect finished performance that we see. What do you think the practices look like? How long do you think they practice for? *
Does it look like they are having fun? Do you think it is always fun, or do you think they get tired of it sometimes? *
Watch this second video on HOW TO STOMP!
Do you have a basketball at home?  Get a basketball or something similar.  Try to use your item and your body to create a rhythm. How did it work? Do you think your rhythm sounded like "real" music? *
