Understanding the Role of a Mentor
Work2Live WELL participants will need mentors to help guide them through this personal and professional development program (http://dnr.maryland.gov/ccs/Pages/work-to-live-well/Work-to-Live-Well.aspx).

Mentors will help with long-term thinking rather than offering a detailed road map of do's and don'ts. They help mentees think through the issues, be a source of wisdom and act as a personal advocate to an emerging professional.
We are seeking mentors who will...
-Meet with their mentee on a weekly basis
-Serve as their direct professional connection
-Offer advice
-Answer career questions

Ideal Mentor Candidates are...
-Committed to providing a safe space for support
-Flexible and open to experimenting with new tools and new ideas
-Willing to work with individuals of differing backgrounds than your own
-Interest in strengthening personal mentorship and leadership skills
-Dedicated to working with program participants to ensure success

Level of Committment
The expectation is that mentors will commit to frequent communication to build a strong one-on-one relationship.  After job placement, the mentor will continue to maintain contact to support success.
