On the 5th of November 2024, the RSPCA, in association with Newcastle University, will be hosting a one-day, in-person event in Newcastle. This event forms part of the RSPCA's "Focus on Severe Suffering" initiative. This will be an interdisciplinary meeting to discuss how animal’s experiences of pain can be minimised, in models of painful human conditions, without affecting the science.
The sessions will feature case studies focused on refining pain management in pain research, and in painful procedures and disease models. Participants will have the opportunity to compare approaches to refinement, share good practice, and discuss barriers of reducing pain in research and testing.
The meeting is FREE to attend and lunch and refreshments will be provided.
To apply to attend this event, please complete and submit this short online form. Please note that the meeting will be in-person.
We will confirm your registration by email and will include details of the exact meeting location.
