What exactly does the work entail?
It depends, sometimes the content requested from a client is a VOD and then for that VOD to be mirrored on your main channel (and the price paid will reflect that). Sometimes they'll ask you to livestream directly onto the Steam page, but most of the time, it's a VOD to be sent solely for Steam and doesn't feature on your own channels, it's variable. Crucially, it's all laid out when we approach you about it.
Do I need to be a big creator to apply for this?
There's lots of potential for smaller creators to secure their first paid gig via making custom VODs for Steam. Because it's directly on Steam, and not on your existing channel, it's a bit more of a level playing field, it's an opportunity for your personality to shine through over your follower count and average viewers!
A lot of paid influencer jobs like this get eaten up by talent management agencies who basically live in their inbox and sweep up opportunities for their roster (good for them) full time. But if you're too small to be signed to an agency yet, or you're a big creator securing your own work rather than giving 20-30% away, then applying here could be for you!
I'm a streamer, is this only for YouTubers?
If you're a streamer you should absolutely apply. Our client will check out your channel and should they choose you, you'd just need to record an engaging, unedited Let's Play style VOD on OBS. It might feel weird not referencing chat for 2 hours, but you'll live.
How soon will I hear back?
Unfortunately, there's no guarantee you'll hear back at all. Just being honest. We anticipate we'll get hundreds of applicants for this, but as Michael Scott once said a guy said "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
When do the projects tend to start?
We've worked on about 25 of these Steam VODs in the last 3 months and anticipate that number will grow over the next 6 months. So even if you're unavailable immediately, but you're interested for the near future, please fill this in. Or tell a friend!
