OPEN CALL - ARTIST RESIDENCIES WESTWAY LAB 2020
Application deadline 31 December 2019.

Westway LAB is about to launch a new episode of this big and surprising adventure, bringing together once again the public, artists and professionals from the music industry, all in Guimarães, a territory in continuous transformation motivated by creation and thought.

In its 7th edition and over a 4-day period next spring, Guimarães will become a city of music, through the innovative organisation of an event based on mastering the 3 P’s: Process (Artist Residencies), Pensamento/Thought (PRO Conferences & Talks) and Product (Showcases & Concerts).

The artist residencies bring together, in the Creation Centre of Candoso, Portuguese and European artists to create new music together with absolute creative freedom. More than a songwriting camp, the Westway LAB artist residencies are a "side-project" incubator where artists from different projects (solo or bands/groups) come together in groups of 3 people to create new music together and present a 30-minute showcase of entirely new material to the Westway LAB festival audience.

Once all applications are in, shortlisted artists will have a chance to select each other between Portuguese and other European projects - 1 from one side, 2 from the other, to a maximum of 3 people per working group. There is a 150 € fee per project side PT/EU (300 € in total per working group), plus meals and accommodation during the residency, as well as travels to and from Guimarães to the city of origin of each participating musician. All artists also get a free PRO Delegate Registration for the Westway LAB Conference.

Residencies generally start up to 10 days before the Festival, so please be free from April 5th onwards!
