We have organized a one and a half day professional development opportunity designed to introduce you to teaching and learning at Durham College. The focus of the session will be an opportunity to actively participate in JumpStart – a program that looks at teaching methodologies, curriculum, assessment, and learning technology. It is designed to give new teachers the information and experience to begin in the classroom. It is delivered by modelling our philosophy of active and collaborative learning.
Program Schedule - Please choose ONE of the following three options
Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th Wednesday, September 12th and Thursday, September 13th
First day of training - 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Second day of training - 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The C.A.F.E. will provide lunch on the first day of the session, as well as parking chaser tickets as reimbursement to those individuals who park in the commencement lot. New part-time faculty who attend will be compensated for their time at a rate of $50 per day.
*Please ensure that you are parking in Commencement Lot and not in the metered parking area. Metered parking cannot be reimbursed.
The Commencement Lot is accessed by taking a ticket, and entering through the yellow parking gates at the parking lot on the south side of Oshawa Campus. For parking lot locations, please see the Durham College Interactive Map at https://map.durhamcollege.ca/.
