DanceAbility® Movement for Memory Pre-Registration Form
Movement for Memory: A Dance Class For Your Brain
Every Tuesday, June 26th - Aug 14th

Brought to you by DanceAbility International, with support from the City of Eugene Cultural Services and HiFi Music Hall

The Movement for Memory series is a dance session based on body patterns that connect neurological processes with physical activity. There is a direct and quantifiable correlation between certain physical actions and improved brain function and memory, according to many research studies. In this low-intensity, interactive lesson for all people, all abilities and all ages, we will move as a group through facilitator-led relaxation, exercises, and expressive moments that support the brain-body connection. With material from the DanceAbility Method curriculum, participants will be encouraged to consider movement as a simple practice for clarity of mind. Jana Meszaros, Master DanceAbility Teacher, will lead. Jay Hall, Brain Dance ® practitioner will assist, and Rich Glauber’s live music will accompany.

There are TWO CHANCES each Tuesday to Move:

11am -12pm Outside at the Park Blocks during Farmer's Market
1-2pm Indoors at HiFi Music Hall (with air conditioning)

EVENT TIMING: June 26th - Aug 14th

DanceAbility International is a non-profit mixed-abilities company that educates through inclusive classes, trainings and performances. The DanceAbility Method uses expressive movement as a tool to create community, physical engagement, and artistic inspiration for all people.

Jana Meszaros is a Master DanceAbility Teacher and works directly for DanceAbility International headquarters in Eugene, Oregon. An independent designer, performer and musician, she is a Contributing Choreographer and Rehearsal Director for DAI's Joint Forces Dance Company and is the lead DanceAbility teacher in Lane County. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from University of Oregon in 2009, her DanceAbility Teacher Certification and Apprenticeship in 2015 and her Master Certification in 2017.

Rich Glauber is an in-demand musician who performs at a number of senior centers and memory care facilities locally. “Glauber’s style is perfect for working with an aging population: memories come alive, toes start tapping, and the party is on.” Glauber’s music will allow participants to freely dance and socialize before and after, creating a lively, dynamic atmosphere.

HiFi Music Hall is an accessible venue that believes strongly in the power of music as a tool for community engagement.
