Serials 7: Mini-Serials Show Proposal!
Fill this out if you've got a kick ass idea for a Serials show and you'll be up for consideration for Serials 7: MiniSerials!

Here's the MiniSerials Concept: we're selecting 5 playwrights to write plays to be performed in three 15 minute episodes that will be performed over three consecutive Mondays (July 31, August 7, and August 14, 2017) on Know Theatre's Underground Cabaret Stage.

So! If you're submitting to MiniSerials, here are the things to keep in mind:

1) Your story will need to fit in 45 minutes total.
2) You'll need to do a recap that is NO MORE than two minutes long at the top of the 2nd and 3rd episodes to catch people up, but this will not count against your 15 minute episode length.
3) Unlike the standard Serials formats, these episodes will be in CONSECUTIVE WEEKS. It'll be fast and furious.
4) Tech support, furniture, etc. is limited. Barebones shows and plays with simple theatricality often work best.

If this is your first time applying to Serials, here are some other things to keep in mind:

1) The playwright serves as the primary contact for their show.
2) We at the Know will offer support, but we mostly rely on each Serials show to self produce. If you know a director and actors, great! We also maintain a "Serials Talent Pool" of Artists who might be interested in working with you, and we're always thrilled to help connect people!
3) We do a 50/50 box office split with the shows performing in Serials. This makes sure we can keep the lights on, and ensures that everyone involved gets at least a few bucks for their time. It is up to the playwright, as primary contact, to distribute the payout fairly amongst your cast and crew. Payouts will happen within 30 days of the final episode.
4) If your show doesn't get selected, that doesn't mean it's not great! We curate very carefully to have a nice balance of shows in the line up, as well as shows that we're confident can be successful given the technical limitations, tiny rehearsal time, and the small stage space in the Underground.
5) We want everyone to have an awesome time.
