Stop Student Voter Disenfranchisement!

***UPDATE: The Minneapolis DFL has OFFICIALLY announced a new date of June 7th. We need your support now!***

UMN College Democrats is committed to organizing the student wing of the DFL. But that means students need to be able to actually participate in the DFL in the first place!

Unfortunately, a handful of local DFL leaders are attempting to use Republican-style tactics to disenfranchise students. Sign the petition below to fight back against this silencing of students.

On Caucus Night, hundreds of UMN students showed up to participate in their DFL caucuses for the first time, only to be met with chaos and resistance that has intensified in the days since. This isn’t the first time our party has made it harder for students to engage: just this January, the Senate District 60 special election was held one week before we returned from Winter break. Now, Minneapolis DFL leadership is attempting to delay the Ward 2 Convention from May 3 to June 7— three weeks after the UMN semester ends. This would exclude the majority of UMN students from having a voice in the DFL endorsement process.

We showed up. Now they’re trying to shut us out. And we’re not backing down.

Join us in calling on the Minneapolis DFL to keep the Ward 2 Convention on May 3 so students can participate.
