Thank you for your interest in volunteering! In order to volunteer in the shelter, you must:
1. Be 16 years of age or older
2. First attend a required two hour volunteer orientation session. Orientation sessions are held every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the shelter building located at 77 North Willow Street, Montclair. No reservations are required.
3. If you are between the ages of 16 and 18, bring the attached parental waiver form to the orientation.
4. Wear shelter-appropriate attire which includes: closed shoes (no crocs or sandals), socks, long pants, long or short-sleeve tops (no tank tops). Clothing that can be discarded if gets bleached suggested. Must be able to scoop, mop and squeegee. This is for your safety and the safety of our animals.
Cat care volunteers work each morning before the shelter opens to the public, performing critical tasks to keep our cats healthy and happy while they are at the shelter. Volunteers will help sterilizing cat cages, washing food bowls and litter boxes, sweeping and mopping floors, etc. There will be opportunity to interact with the cats while they are out of their cages.
Kennel care volunteers help by keeping the kennels clean and refreshed for dogs awaiting their forever homes, and help with dishes and laundry. Kennel care hours are between 9:30 am to 11:30, 7 days per week.
