Work on one thing at a time.
John Jones was in New York City waiting for his flight to Boston. Having a few minutes to spare, he walked over to a scale that weighed people and told fortunes. He stepped on, inserted a coin, and out came his fortune. It read: “Your name is John Jones, you weigh 188 pounds, and you are going to catch the 2:20 flight to Boston.” He was astounded because all of the information was correct. He figured this must be a trick, so he stepped back on the scale, inserted another coin, and out came his fortune. “Your name is still John Jones, you still weigh 188 pounds, and you are still going to catch the 2:20 flight to Boston.” Now he was more puzzled than ever. Thinking he was clever, John decided to “fool” whoever was responsible for this trick. He went into the men’s room and changed his clothes. Once again he stepped on the scale, inserted his coin, and out came his fortune: “Your name is still John Jones, You still weigh 188 pounds, but you just missed the 2:20 flight to Boston.” Because he didn’t stay focused on his flight, John’s trip to the airport became pointless.
