Student Volunteer Component *
At Seven Summits Centre for Learning we believe in giving back to our community and our volunteer component is part of that. Without volunteers' time, knowledge and expertise Seven Summits Centre for Learning would not be in existence. As part of our program it is mandatory for all students to complete 50 hours of volunteering. If students complete more hours (50-bronze, 75-silver, 100-gold, 125-platinum) they will be rewarded with certificates, commendations on their transcripts and awards. Students can choose what form this volunteer component takes, based on their interests, passions and expertise they choose areas and places and people they wish to volunteer with and for. Teachers will help with the initial set up of volunteer opportunities. As well, numerous requests from various organizations and individuals come to us throughout the year giving students ample chances and variety to fulfill their required hours. Examples are working at the SPCA, shoveling for a neighbour, Winter Carnival, developing a website for a non-profit organization, Golden City Days, tutoring a younger child in various subjects, teaching skiing, helping in a hair salon, the list is long and ever changing.
Parent Volunteer Component *
Seven Summits Centre for Learning is a charitable organization under the Visions for Small Schools Society. As such we rely heavily on community volunteers, board members and parents. Volunteers are essential so that we can keep the facility fee as low as possible and also allows us to offer diversity in our programming. $250 of the $2350 facility fee will be reimbursed by June 30th if a parent(s) fulfills the minimum requirement of 25 hours of volunteering. During the meeting when accepted students and parents sign up for courses, parents will be asked to sign up for specific volunteer commitments. These commitments vary and include: driving students, running a workshop (i.e. foods), organizing an event (i.e. kids games at winter carnival), tutoring a learner, building maintenance, IT support, sitting on a committee etc. And you can always add something that is not on the list that you can help with. If your schedule is such that it is impossible to volunteer time then the $250 volunteer component of the facility fee will not be reimbursed.
Seven Summits Centre for Learning Payment Policy *
Please review and indicate your preference: Total facility fee is $2350. $250 of which will be refunded by June 30th as long as the minimum requirement of 25 hours is met by the parent(s). A $600 non-refundable deposit is required upon acceptance to the Centre by April 30th, 2016 along with postdated cheques. Other payments are non-refundable once cashed. The financing option spreads the fees over a longer period of time and costs $100. If needed, our financial aid package is available here: http://sevensummitslearning.com/fees . There are additional fees for non-local students and competitive athletetes. Please contact the Centre for more details.
