I'm thinking about starting a tech cooperative for startups. A group of developers, designers, marketers, etc. will build SaaS services and mobile apps, and we'll try a lot of different ideas. It will be like a self-organized and worker-owned startup accelerator. We'll be bootstrapped, and there'll be no VCs or investments. We'll also work remotely.
We'll all have an equal stake in the company, which means that we'll have an equal stake in each other's projects. This will reduce a lot of risk. We'll be able to share code and infrastructure, bounce ideas off each other, and focus on the most successful projects. The rule of thumb is that 90% of startups fail, so let's build 20 MVPs and see what happens.
I should also mention that I don't want to chase unicorns and exits. I would rather build small, sustainable businesses. You should read this post to learn more about this philosophy:
https://m.signalvnoise.com/reconsider-41adf356857fI'm a software developer with almost 10 years of experience. I'm currently working on a service called FormAPI:
https://formapi.io (~$300 / mo). I started the company using Stripe Atlas, and I'm thinking about turning it into a tech cooperative. I would share the company with a group of like-minded entrepreneurs, and we can work on a lot of different projects together. I have a lot of free AWS credits, so we can spin up Kubernetes and have a single cluster that runs all of the backend services. We can also share boilerplate code for web and mobile apps. We could also start a brand new company, but it's probably easier to just use the one I already have.
