ChatGPT and other AI models mark a groundbreaking step forward in artificial intelligence. Beyond the impressive technology, the program is generating controversy and conversation about its impact on academia. Vanderbilt University’s Data Science Institute is hosting lunchtime information sessions explaining the technology, possibilities, and limitations.
Understanding ChatGPT
Monday, February 20th, Alumni Hall Room 202, 12-1:30pm or Virtual
The planned agenda for the session is as follows: (1). An introduction to Chat GPT (2). Underpinnings of ChatGPT: Strengths and Weaknesses (3). Current and Future Applications for Teaching and Research and (4). Getting the Most Out of ChatGPT.
Attendees of the event are invited to bring their own lunches for the hour and a half event.
Understanding Text-to-Image Models: DALL-E 2, Stable Diffusion
Monday, February 27th, Virtual
Stable diffusion models have been shown to have incredible
success generating realistic images. Models like DALL-E have shown the power to
generate brand-new photo-realistic scenes, in addition to mimicking and
transferring an art style onto existing photos. These models can be used in a
variety of ways and are often easy to begin experimenting with, but in order to
create the image you are imagining, it requires a carful selection of the input
prompt and an understanding of what model parameters can be manipulated stable
diffusion models. The planned itinerary for the session is as follows: (1). An introduction to diffusion models (2). Underpinnings of diffusion models: Strengths and Weaknesses (3). Current and Future Applications for Teaching and Research and (4). Getting the Most Out of diffusion.
